You will love this recipe! In my household, we pretty much stopped buying bread, we just make it because it is easy, healthier and incredibly delicious. We use fennel seeds as well to add more flavour.


Prep Time: 15 mins - Cooking Time: 55 mins



  • 2 cups of white flour

  • 1 cup of whole grain flour

  • 1 bag of dried yeast

  • A few fennel seeds

  • 1 tsp of salt

  • 3 tbsp of olive oil

  • 400ml water


  1. In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients, flour, yeast, fennel seeds and salt.

  2. Create a small well in the middle of your mixture. In that, add the olive oil and water.

  3. Using your hands, slowly bring your hands from the outside to inside. You really want to make a beautiful smooth elastic dough.

  4. Cover the bowl with clean film which will keep it nice and humid, and place the dough in the fridge for 24 hours, this helps to make the bread more flavorous.

  5. Just before you get the bread from the fridge, turn on your oven to 200 degrees Celcius.

  6. Oil your hands and slowly remove the dough from the bowl and place it on a baking sheet, shaping it to your liking.

  7. You can cut the dough on the surface in three different places more for looks than anything.

  8. Transfer the dough with the baking sheet into a casserole dish with a lid and bake the bread for 40mins with the lid on and 15 mins with the lid off so that the bread takes a brownish colour.
