In one of my very first videos, I shared why we should consider cutting down on caffeine. Since then a few of you have asked me for a few quick alternatives to coffee that will still provide with the boost of energy that you need in the morning.
So, here it goes.
Option No.1 - Hot Apple Cider
If you like the soothing feeling that a warm cup of coffee offers first thing in the morning, then a cup or a glass of hot apple cider is the perfect option for you. It is a great pick me up during any season of the year and as apples are the main ingredient, it offers health benefits that coffee does not.
Option No.2 - Green Juice/Smoothie
Vegetables, especially leafy and green ones are low on the glycemic index, which means you’ll digest them gradually throughout the day, sustaining energy levels for longer. If you have all your vegetables cleaned and ready from the weekend or the night before, you can prepare the juice or smoothie quickly in the morning and it will not take more than 5mins.
Option No.3 - How Raw Chocolate
Don’t you just love a mug of hot chocolate? It is so easy to make and it stimulates serotonin, the happy hormone, boosting your mood and acting as a natural anti-depressant.
For a delicious hot raw chocolate, I recommend a mug of coconut milk, 1 tsp of raw cocoa and ½ or 1tsp of a natural sweetener, all depends on how sweet you like your drink. Bring all the ingredients to boil and enjoy.
Option No.4 - Lemon water
You probably heard me mention this amazing toning frequently enough but it does do wonders. It quickly wakes up your digestive system and hydrates your body. Adding lemon juice in your water helps you release more energy more efficiently and is a great source of vitamin C which contributes to strengthening your immune system and protecting your cells from damaging.
