How to Lose Weight Easily (Tips for Weight Loss & Weight Management)

In this episode, I will be sharing 5 simple tricks that will help you lose and maintain your weight. When on diet, most people focus on what they eat, but there is more to losing and maintaining weight than just food. In this episode, I will mention some of those. Tip No 1 - Sleep well

Not a lot of people realise how important sleep is for weight loss and weight management. This is because sleep is a primary need and if we are not satisfied with the quality of it then our body is craving energy, usually in a form of snacks high in sugar or salt to compensate for the lack of the sleep. So, try and sleep between 6 and 8 hours a day. Tip No 2 - Hydrate

Drinking water is very important. The majority of our body consists of water and thus we should ensure we hydrate and replenish the liquids that are naturally leaving our bodies. Sometimes craving that arise have to do more with the fact we haven’t been drinking enough enough water. When you are hungry, drink first a glass of water and if your cravings or hunger does not go then proceed to it. Tip No 3 - Move

Movement is one of the most important elements when you are looking to lose weight. Obviously you can do some type of activity by joining a gym, watching online videos at home or spending time outdoors but you can also just walk more, don’t Skype that colleague of yours move from your desk to his, don’t commute to your last stop but get of the tube or bus one or two stops earlier and walk, instead of meeting friends for coffee, meet them for a walk. Also, stretch, make sure that fluids are moving throughout your body. Tip No 4 - Eat mindfully

Don’t just eat for the sake of eating. Be there and taste your body. Switch off any devices and just focus on your meal. Think of the flavours and the ingredients included in your meal. You will notice that you get full much quicker that way than if you eat your food in front of a screen. Tip No 5 - Reduce stress

We lead super stressful lives which turns on the alert signals in our bodies responsible for weight gain. This is something we inherited from our ancestors where this mechanism protected them from life danger. Although most of the time, our life is not endangered, getting stressed about work or if we are going to make to our date sends the same message as if it was in a life threatening situation and our body responds by slowing down our metabolism.
