SPICED COCONUT CHAI LATTE [VIDEO]

2 whole cloves
½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground ginger
½ tsp ground cardamom or 1-2 whole ones
½ tsp ground nutmeg
½ tsp allspice
2 bags of high quality black tea
Agave / Maple syrup
¾ cup coconut milk
½ vanilla stick / or ½ tsp vanilla powder
Cinnamon to sprinkle
First make your chai mix by combining 2 whole cloves, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, cardamom, ground nutmeg and allspice. ½ of teaspoon of each is perfect!
Bring the water and spices to a boil in a medium sauce pan. Whisk the spices in the water until they reach to a boil. Turn off the heat and allow the spices to steep in the water for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, turn the heat back on and add the black tea bags and maple syrup. Allow the tea bag and the maple syrup to steep in the water and spices for 5 minutes. Then strain the content in leave the liquid aside.
To make your milk, bring the vanilla, coconut milk, and pinch of cinnamon to a slight boil in a medium sauce pan. Using either an immersion blender or a milk frother, blend your milk until it is frothed the way you like.
Pour your 1/2 cup of chai tea in a mug and then slowly pour your milk over it. You can sprinkle the top of your chai with cinnamon or add a cinnamon stick to your drink. Serve warm and enjoy!
